From Phil’s Desk…
Last week I focused on developing a message for young people. I reminded myself of a conversation I had with a teacher from a local high school.
I already spent time on a regular basis with year 10 & 12 students covering rights and responsibilities that they would face if and when they became tenants after leaving school.
I asked the teacher how many motivational speakers the school organised for this level of education. His response annoyed me.
Motivational speakers they would never listen to me ever again and I am talking about the students. I did not say anymore. I just felt so bad for him.
When I taught at T.A.F.E. as a part of my contribution to an industry that has given so much to me, I promised the class at the beginning of each term that a part from covering the syllabus required to pass the course, I would give them one idea each class that they could use no matter what business they were in.
They rewarded me by aiming for distinctions.
